There were outages throughout the night and this morning and some residents are still waiting to have their electricity restored. There were extra problems in rural areas where CLECO workers were challenged by falling limbs and ice.
Most schools were out and many roads were closed.
But the worst weather appeared to be north of Alexandria, especially along Interstate 20, where there were many accidents, which shut down the highway at times.
Many events tonight are cancelled, and you should not venture out unless you call ahead. Since yesterday afternoon, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office says it responded to 47 incidents of trees down on roads and homes.
