Westside Regional Library presents Botanist Dr. Charles Allen
Alexandria, Louisiana—CSU Senior Botanist and retired ULM Professor of Botany, Dr. Charles Allen will give a hands-on presentation of edible and useful plants of the Gulf South, Monday, June 2, 2014, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., at Westside Regional Library. Dr. Allen will offer both dried and fresh samples of edible plants found in the Gulf South. Dr. Allen is a Senior Botanist with Colorado State University stationed at Fort Polk, a retired Professor of Botany from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a charter member and past president of the Louisiana Native Plant Society. He will be selling and signing copies of his books, Louisiana Wildflower Guide and Edible Plants of the Gulf South. Participants will have the opportunity to smell and taste samples of the plants on display.
