Vernon Parish Fire Academy

CityofLeesvilleThe Leesville Fire Department is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 1st Annual Vernon Parish Fire Academy. Training sessions will be held at the Parish Training Center beginning April 22, 2014. Classes will be held every Tuesday from 6pm-10pm and Saturday from 8am-12pm.

The intent of the Academy is to train those interested in becoming full time, paid Firefighters, and to increase the opportunities and experience of the fire district personnel. Our goal is to create a nucleus of well-informed Firefighters who possess a greater insight into and understanding of Fire Department practices and services.

Instructors will include personnel from the Leesville Fire Department and Vernon Parish Fire District, each with expertise in specific fields. The course will cover a broad range of topics including an overview of the fire service, engine/truck company operations, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention. This program also includes numerous hands-on activities and training drills.
