Tunica Biloxi Tribe Provides Conference on Tourism

indianconferenceA daylong summit on tourism in the American Indian communities is providing ideas and information in Marksville. This is the 16th year for this conference hosted by the Tunica Biloxi Tribe.

Big names and topics are on the agenda. These include culinary trends, marketing, and positioning tribes for international conferences.

Tourism is the economic engine that drives many Native American Indian tribes to provide more services for their members and the communities where they live.

Many speakers say over the years their attractions have changed from casinos to more educational programs about Native American history, culture and literature. They’re also starting to offer native foods for their visitors.
