Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana, Meth Arrest in Pineville

Drug arrests are made yesterday in the Bayou Marie Road area of Pineville. 23-year-old Joshua Aaron Evans of Pineville and 25-year-old Kayla Michelle Carroll of Colfax both face charges. Deputies say they found drugs during a traffic stop.
Press Release – On January 15th , 2015, deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Metro Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle crossing the solid center line near Bayou Marie Rd. in Pineville.
Deputies approached the vehicle and contacted the driver, later identified as Joshua Evans, who had no driver’s license. Deputies detected the odor of burning Marijuana and advised Evans the reason for the stop. Deputies eventually verified Evans’ identity and learned he had 2 outstanding arrest warrants. Evans was taken into custody and after being advised of his rights, consented to a search of the vehicle.
Kayla Carroll, the front seat passenger, was asked to exit the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a small black bag containing three bags of suspected methamphetamines, a bag of suspected Marijuana and a Seroquel tablet was found between the driver and passenger seats. A burnt marijuana cigarette was also found in the ashtray.
Evans and Carroll were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Evans remains in the parish jail on a $16,075.00 bond. Carroll remains in the parish jail on a $15,500.00 bond.
