UPDATE – Teens Arrested for Attempted Burglary

Update Press Release – On Monday, September 18, APD detectives secured arrest warrants for Casey Bailey, Dayton Clark and Thomas Hornor for a new charge of Simple Burglary. When the three were initially stopped by officers early Sunday morning, officers located a wallet belonging to a male subject in the vehicle. The victim had been watching a football game at a friend’s house Saturday night in the West Pointe subdivision when his vehicle was burglarized. In addition to the Simple Burglary charge, the warrant for Thomas Hornor also included five counts of Attempted Simple Burglary. These charges relate to the vehicles on Mildred and Osiris, where Hornor was identified as the driver of the suspects’ vehicle.

On Tuesday, September 19, Bailey and and Hornor were located by APD patrol officers and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for booking. Clark was still being held on a $26,750 bond, as well as other charges, and was booked at the Detention Center.
Original Press Release – On September 17, shortly after midnight, APD officers responded to an attempted burglary of a vehicle at a home in the 5200 block of Mildred Street. Officers examined video footage from the incident, and saw that a few minutes prior, a male suspect came under the carport and pulled on the handles to a vehicle. The vehicle was locked, and the suspect went across the street and pulled on the handles to another vehicle, which was also locked. A witness saw the suspects, who, upon being discovered, fled on foot. One suspect fell and lost a shoe before they both got into a waiting sedan, which fled the area. The witness was able to copy a license plate number and provide it to officers.
At around 1:15 am, officers located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot in the 1400 block of MacArthur Drive. Officers contacted the occupants, three males and two females. Officers were able to identify two of the males suspects from the video footage, and during the investigation learned that the third male was the driver, waiting in the car with the two females while the other two males got out and attempted to break into vehicles.
