The Future of Huey Long Hospital
The future of Huey Long Hospital, the public facility for the uninsured in our area, is now a deal in the making. The state plans to shut down the facility in Pineville.
It’s the oldest of its kind in the state. They plan to move operations to the former England Air Base Hospital at the Air Park, but not many people are talking about what will happen.
A presentation was made this morning to the LSU board of supervisors, but no contract was voted on.
We have been told a decision should be made within 60 days.
This would handle only out-patient services and provide a teaching hospital setting for LSU med students.
