Suspect charged in Cypress Street homicide

An Alexandria woman has been charged with second degree murder after a shooting that took place early Sunday morning on Cypress Street.

27 year old Natashia Jackson was identified as a suspect in the shooting that occurred Sunday morning after officers responded to a local hospital to a report of two people who were admitted with gunshot wounds.

Officers later found out that four people had been shot and one victim, a 26 year old female, was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the shooting was a result of a continuation of a fight that occurred the previous night. The altercation had progressed over several hours and at multiple locations.

Jackson was located at her home and brought in for questioning. After the interview she was charged and booked.

Natashia Jackson has been booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and the case is still under investigation.
