During the months of March and April, philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein will match a portion of donations to hunger relief agencies across the nation, including the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. Last year the Food Bank received $2,212 from the Feinstein Challenge.
Donations received during March and April are critical to this fundraising effort because the amount the Food Bank receives from the Feinstein Challenge is based on the total amount of funds and food donated to the organization. Each pound of food collected is worth $1 in this annual challenge to fight hunger.
The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is a non-profit organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger in central Louisiana. The Food Bank distributes food and grocery products to needy families through a network of approved charitable agencies in the following eleven parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Sabine, Vernon and Winn.
