Rapides deputies responded to a burglary on Stilly Road in Pineville. According to the victim, the residence had been the subject of many break ins which went back as far as three years. Detectives from the Tioga Substation also responded to investigate the burglary.
After speaking with the home owner and canvassing the immediate area, detectives gained information that lead them to 3017 Old Marksville Highway in Pineville where they made contact with a subject identified as 29 year-old Joshua Joseph New. After he was advised of his rights, New admitted to detectives that he had broken into the residence on Stilly Road and then led detectives to a location on the property where he had hid the items he had taken.
Detectives then observed in plain sight items they knew had been reported stolen from an address on Airline Blvd and seized these items as evidence. Detectives interviewed New later at Tioga CID where he confessed to sixteen additional burglaries throughout the Pineville area.
Detectives placed New under arrest for sixteen counts of Simple Burglary, sixteen counts of Criminal Damage and two counts of Felony Theft. New was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he remains on a $170,000 bond. Detectives say more arrests are expected to be made in this case.
