Study Abroad Panel to be held March 19 at NSU

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the Honor Society for International Scholars, will sponsor a Study Abroad Panel on Wednesday, March 19 at 5 p.m. in the Thomas-D’Amato Reading Room of Watson Library. Students who have participated in the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) or other international programs will share about their experiences. The public is invited to attend.

Phi Beta Delta is the first honor society in the United States to recognize scholarship achievement in international education. The organization was established in 1986 and now has more than 170 chapters at universities in the United States and around the world. Its goals are to increase the recognition, credibility, and importance of the international experience and create a catalyst for international academic-based programming on college campuses while providing support and recognition to those individuals on campuses who are involved in international endeavors. The Northwestern State chapter received it charter in April 2010 with the induction of 25 faculty, staff, and student members.

“There are many domestic and international students at NSU who appreciate the support of those who value the international experience,” said Assistant Professor of Music Education Sharon Joy, who is president and chapter coordinator. “Phi Beta Delta can support these students and encourage international research and exchange.”
