Strawberry Festival This Weekend
Red is the color of spring in Louisiana for both crawfish and strawberries.
The annual Strawberry Festival in Ponchatoula begins tomorrow. An estimated 200 thousand people will attend and buy their strawberries for Easter.
Louisiana has nearly 400 acres of strawberries producing some 850 thousand flats a year, an amount valued at 14 million dollars. This festival is renowned as the second largest gathering in Louisiana with Mardi Gras reigning first.
