A special exhibit devoted to Solomon Northrup will open next month at LSU Alexandria. The exhibit is located inside the historic Epps house on the campus of LSU Alexandria.
Solomon Northrup is the inspiration for a film based on his life and taken from his book, drug “Twelve Years a Slave.” The home belonged to Edwin Epps and will have artifacts of that period, describing his life and times. Volunteers are needed for the exhibit.
The Epps house will open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to four.
Other rooms in the exhibit focus on plantation life. Also, there will be information on the late Doctor Sue Eakin, who dedicated her career to Solomon Northrup.
