The fight over common core between Governor Bobby Jindal and State Education Superintendent John White is at a showdown in Baton Rouge. The state board of education, better known as BESE, had a daylong hearing on what to do next.
The governor has blocked buying tests for common core. But, White has said the governor cannot, alone, decide to do away with it.
Most business interests support White, and most teacher unions support Jindal.
One issue is how the state board of education could pay for an attorney to fight their battle in court. Most observers have predicted the matter would wind up in a lawsuit.
