The familiar headquarters on Jackson Street was founded by a group of churches to assist families in need of emergency help. They were also famed for their Christmas Cheer program. Volunteers collected funds and toys for children who, otherwise, might not have Christmas.
Other area agencies have said they will try to help as best they can. Many churches are already setting up funds to assist the needy.
