Scholarship Honors Fallen Alexandria Police Officers

A check is presented this morning to a scholarship fund named for two Alexandria police officers that died in the line of duty.  Jeremy Carruth and David Ezernack are the officers memorialized by the fund.  The money, raised from a fitness competition, came from the police department, CrossFit South Bank and LSU Alexandria.

The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in criminal justice.

The 2 officers died in a shootout nearly 10 years ago.

The seed money for the scholarship was made by the LSU Alexandria Criminal Justice and Paralegal Association.  The group plans to make the fitness competition an annual event to continue support for the scholarship.
