RPSO Reminds Us About Fireworks Laws

Every year we’re reminded of the danger of fireworks.  But they are supposed to be a fun part of the Independence Day experience.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning people about the law.  You can’t explode firecrackers within 25 yards of a public road, church or school house, or within a residential subdivision.  Deputies say accidents usually happen when children are unsupervised.

Shooting off fireworks within the city limits is illegal.  They’ll have extra patrols on duty to handle complaints.  A citation can cost you 226 dollars.
