RPSB President Withdraws from School Board Election

In a surprise announcement this afternoon, the Rapides Parish School Board President says she is withdrawing from the November 4th primary. Instead, she’ll endorse the other African-American democrat in the race, Willard McCall.

Also in the race is Republican Jennifer Atwood, a former schoolteacher.

Dixon has been under fire in recent weeks, when some members of the board tried to remove her. Though their motives were never clear.

Dixon’s husband Herbert is a state representative.
