Rosepine Sex Offender Accused of More Sex Crimes

Press Release – Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the January 8, 2015 arrest of Christopher Hooker, age 30, of Rosepine.
Christopher Hooker was originally arrested on a probation violation in December 2014 in Beauregard Parish and was transferred to the Vernon Parish Jail.
During his incarceration jailers obtained information which led them to believe that Hooker was having contact with an underage female.
Detectives initiated an investigation into the matter and learned that Hooker and a 16 year old female from Groves Texas were exchanging letters.
VPSO Detectives, with the assistance of the Groves Texas Police Department, were able to identify the female.
Detectives did interview the female and at that time she indicated that she and Hooker had met on a social networking web site. The juvenile female also indicated that on one occasion Hooker traveled to Groves Texas where he picked her up and transported her back to Vernon Parish.
The female stated that she and Hooker did engage in sexual contact at that time.
Detectives and an Officer from the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole interviewed Christopher Hooker who was at the time a registered sex offender.
Hooker did admit to the sexual contact and to utilizing social media which he is forbidden to use due to the fact that he was convicted of an unrelated sexual offense in 2012.
As a stipulation of his sex offender registration Hooker was to register any email addresses he used but failed to do so when he registered in June 2014. Also, stipulations set forth by Louisiana Law prohibit some sex offenders from utilizing social media web sites.
Christopher Hooker was arrested on one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and one count of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. 30th Judicial District, Division B, Judge Anthony Eaves set a total bond of $ 60,000.00.
A probation hold has been placed on Hooker and he remains in the Vernon Parish Jail at the time of this release.
