Police Investigate Death of Priest

Alexandria Police are investigating the death of a Roman Catholic priest found dead in his hotel room early Friday.

Forty-eight year old Father Medina-Cruz was removed from his post in Cottonport after allegations of wrongdoing with a child.

That investigation was still pending and no charges were ever filed.

Police say there are no signs of foul play. Autopsy results are pending.

The Diocese says Father Medina-Cruz is a native of Puerto Rico and was ordained in 1999. The Diocese says a memorial mass is planned once all preparations are finished.
