Rodney Thompson is accused of the shooting death of 74-year-old Gennieve Ashworth of Freedom Road in Glenmora.
Rapides Deputies say Thompson reported the shooting to Oakdale Police, who turned it over to them.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are not releasing any motive for the shooting.
