Arrest in Connection to Child Abuse Case

Update – Rapides Deputies say the live-in boyfriend of a woman accused of child abuse is now a co-defendant in the case. He’s 32-year-old Christopher David Moreau of Pineville.  The case dates back to November when un-explained injuries were allegedly found on a child after a family visit.  Detectives arrested the child’s mother and continued their investigation, resulting in the recent arrest.

Press Release (original story) – On November 30^th, 2014, Deputies responded to local hospital in reference to a complaint of child abuse that occurred in the Pineville area.  The complainant reported to have discovered multiple unexplained injuries on or about the child’s body following a visit with a family member.  The complaint was turned over to RPSO Detectives and during their investigation, Kayla Clare Blanchard was developed as a suspect.  Following an extensive investigation, Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause and warrants were granted for Blanchard’s arrest.  On January 15^th , 2015, Detectives located Blanchard and she was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center in reference to one count Cruelty To Juveniles and one count Domestic Abuse Battery.  Blanchard was released on bond on January 20^th.
