Young pianists are in town for the annual Louisiana International Piano Competition. One of the performers today entertained members of the Downtown Rotary Club.
Competition began tonight and lasts all week. Many of these young artists are staying with area residents and using churches as their recital halls. Maestro Joshua Zona is Artistic Director of the competition.
All performances are at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center.
The competition started in 2005. This year there are 22 competitors, and they come from all over the world — from Ukraine, and China, just to name a few. There’s a streaming web site with complete details at LAPianoCompetition.org.
