This month’s Saturday Pet Adoption Day at the Alexandria Animal Shelter offers adopters a new collar and leash with a dog adoption or a new collar and cat toy with a cat adoption while supplies last.
The Saturday Pet Adoption Day is held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5. The shelter is located at 200 Animal Shelter Road off Upper Third Street in Alexandria.
“Our animal shelter was created for the sake of public safety and public health where dangerous or diseased animals are humanely
dealt with,” Mayor Jacques M. Roy said. “It has become, however, a place where many perfectly good pets end up for one reason or another. It is our hope that we can help these pets find new homes.”
The Saturday Adoption Day is held monthly and those looking for a new pet are encouraged to attend.
There are many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption. If you cannot adopt, please consider other ways to help these shelter animals by volunteering or donating dog or cat food to the shelter. Please also remember to have your pets spayed or neutered.
