Louisiana could start developing a four-lane parkway soon.
The Zachary Taylor Parkway Commission held a special meeting yesterday morning.
In January, the Parkway Commission engaged NY Associates of New Orleans and their partners, Urban Systems and TMG Consulting, to draft a master plan, traffic study, and economic development plan for the parkway.
This was the first major planning effort in five years.
The Zachary Taylor Parkway extends nearly 200 miles, beginning at Interstate 49 near Alexandria, crossing Interstate 55 near Amite, and stretching all the way to Interstate 59 near Poplarville, Mississippi. It generally follows the route of Louisiana Highways 1 and 10.
