NWLTC faculty, staff to get tuition break at NSU

NATCHITOCHES  Northwestern State University and Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College have signed an agreement that allows NWLTC faculty and staff to take classes at Northwestern State at a reduced tuition rate.

The NWLTC employees must be full-time employees who meet standard admission requirements to Northwestern State.  Under the agreement, NWLTC employees may register for up to six credit hours per semester of undergraduate or graduate courses.

The agreement is valid for NWLTC faculty and staff who work at campuses in Minden, Mansfield, Many, Natchitoches and Shreveport. NWLTC faculty and staff will be able to utilize any of Northwestern State’s 34 accredited online degree programs or take traditional face-to-face classes.

NWLTC offers degree programs that lead to careers in business, commerce, service areas, health services occupations, information technology, construction and manufacturing and transportation services.

NWLTC Director Dr. Rick Bateman said the availability of Northwestern State’s programs is a benefit for the institution’s faculty and staff.

“Our colleges share a mutual interest in strengthening the higher education effort in Northwest Louisiana,” said Bateman. “By accessing programs at NSU, faculty and staff of NWLTC will grow in their ability to serve the citizens of our region.”

Northwestern State President Dr. Randall J. Webb said the agreement can have a positive impact on the area.

“Both Northwestern State and Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College have a long history on providing outstanding educational opportunities for students,” said Webb. “Northwestern State is glad to partner with NWLTC, and we look forward to seeking out additional opportunities for collaboration.”
