NSU’s Contemporary Ensemble to perform

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Contemporary New Music Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 in Magale Recital Hall. The NSU Contemporary New Music Ensemble consists of NSU faculty and students devoted to the performance of music from the current time. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program will include “Phantasy for Solo Trumpet and Piano” by Paul Dorsam performed by Associate Professor Galindo Rodriguez on trumpet and Assistant Professor Dr. Francis Yang on piano. “Animus I for Trombone and Electronic Tape by Jacob Druckman will feature graduate student Matthew Petty on trombone. “Interbalances III for Solo Cello and Optional Other Instruments” by Barney Childs will feature Associate Professor Dr. Masahito Kuroda on euphonium, Eilyn Garcia on flute, Associate Professor Dr. Malena McLaren on clarinet, Professor Dr. Douglas Bakenhus on bassoon, Rodriguez on flugelhorn and trumpet and Yang on piano. “Five for Trombone and String Quartet” will feature Professor Dr. J. Mark Thompson on trombone, Emilio Castron and Roman Carranza on violin, Mario Torres on viola and Assistant Professor Paul Christopher on cello.
