NSU Online Programs Get High Ranks for Affordability

Northwestern_State_University_of_LouisianaNATCHITOCHES – Three higher education websites have recognized Northwestern State University’s online bachelor’s programs in criminal justice and psychology and graduate programs for their affordability.

The university’s online bachelor’s degree in criminal justice was ranked as the most affordable in country by nonprofitcollegesonline.com. NSU led the “Students Before Profits Award” rankings with a four cost of more than $3,300 less than the second ranked institution.

The site highlights online schools that put “students before profits and education before the bottom line.” To be considered for an award, programs must be offered by a regionally accredited, nonprofit college or university. Programs are then ranked according to their affordability.

Northwestern State’s online master’s degree programs have been ranked among the 10 most affordable in the country by bestmastersprograms.org. The site developed its ratings to help prospective students decide where to earn a graduate degree. Schools and programs were evaluated based on publicly available information on accreditation, courses offered and cost.

Northwestern State offers master’s degrees in adult education, art, English, teaching, student affairs in higher education, curriculum and instruction, and early childhood education online. The university also has online master’s programs in educational technology leadership, educational leadership, special education, health promotion, homeland security and nursing. More than two dozen specific degrees or concentrations are available.

The bachelor’s program in psychology was ranked 24th in the country by geteducated.com. For out of state students, NSU’s program would be the 12th least expensive. The university does not charge out of state tuition for students who live outside Louisiana.

“By remaining affordable, Northwestern State’s online degree programs become more possible for students to attain,” said Dr. Darlene Williams, vice president for technology, research and economic development. “Higher cost does not necessarily translate to improved quality. Northwestern State has been offering online degree programs for many years, and as a result, has served thousands of students. We intend to continue providing quality, affordable programming in order to serve as many students as are interested in pursuing an online degree.”

Northwestern State offers 35 accredited online degree programs. For more information on Northwestern State’s online programs, go to ensula.edu.
