NSU Jazz Orchestra to perform Wednesday

Admission is free. The public is invited to attend. Galindo Rodriguez will conduct the orchestra.

Members of the Jazz Orchestra are Justin Lindsay of Shreveport, Emmet Chamberlain of Wills Point, Texas, Tajh Derosier of White Plains, N.Y., Jimmy Stafford of White Oak, Texas, and Ryan Looper of Cleburne, Texas, on saxophone, Christopher Williams of Delcambre, Andrew Benjamin and Jonathan Salazar of Arlington, Texas, Max Spedale of Harahan and Kazue Seo of Kagawa, Japan, on trumpet.

The orchestra also includes Amanda Crump of Baton Rouge, Christian Jesmore of Pittsburg, Texas, Cooper Lyons of Hutto, Texas, Dennis Hyde of New Orleans and Travis Pope of Longview, Texas, on trombone, Jaime Cisneros of Bastrop, Texas, of piano, Mike Johnson of Robinson, Texas on Guitar, Adam Leblanc of Shreveport on bass and Russell Lancaster of Carthage, Texas, and Jimmy Leach of Longview, Texas, on drums.

The Jazz Orchestra will perform “A Time for Love” by Paul Francis Webster and Johnny Mandel and arranged by Sammy Nestico and featuring Crump, “Slide’s Derangement” by Slide Hampton featuring Derosier, Lindsey, Leach, Johnson and Lancaster, and “Decoupage” by Hank Levy featuring the trombone section, Lindsay and Seo.

Also on the program are “Coconut Champagne” by Dennis Deblasio and arranged by Bob Lowden and featuring Benjamin and Looper, “Angel Eyes” by Earl Brent and Matt Dennis and arranged by Dave Wolpe and featuring Derosier, “Sing, Sang, Sung” by Gordon Goodwin featuring Lancaster, Lindsay and Spedale.
