Notary prep course to start Aug. 29

NATCHITOCHES – A notary exam prep course will be offered through Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education starting Thursday, Aug. 29. The class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in South Hall.

The fee for the class is 9, which does not include textbooks.

The 44-hour course is offered by distance learning and is an introduction to notary public fundamentals, with an emphasis on the multiple choice and research portions of the statewide exam. This course will give a specific review of the subjects tested on the Notary Exam. This course is being offered in cooperation with Louisiana State University at Shreveport.

Those taking the course should obtain the current edition of the Louisiana Civil Code, a two-volume publication by Thomson/West and edited by A.N. Yiannopoulos and available through the LSUS Bookstore. Class participants should also obtain the 2013 Edition of the “Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice,” the Louisiana Notary Public examination official study guide, which is available from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Web site at sos.la.gov.
