The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA says severe weather is canceling its planned furloughs.
12-thousand agency employees were looking at as many as 20 days without pay this summer because of forced budget cuts. The furlough days were going to kick in during the atlantic hurricane season, which NOAA forecasters say will be above-normal in activity. A memo sent to employees said last month’s deadly tornadoes remind everyone how vital NOAA is to safety. The memo also said a new budget plan has been developed.
Forecasters predict there will be up to 20 named storms in the Atlantic this hurricane season.
