Newest Additions to Alexandria Zoo Have Arrived

NewJaguarThe stars of the newest exhibit at the Alexandria zoo are here.

They are two jaguars, and they’re now in quarantine.  This is standard operating procedure for all new animals.  It gives them a chance to adjust to their new surroundings.

The young male is Bebu, born in the wild in Panama in October 2011.  The young female, Maderas, was born at the San Diego Zoo.

The official opening is September 28th.

The jaguars are the star attractions for the newest zoo exhibit called “Land of the Jaguar.”  That exhibit is devoted to the animals and plants of Central and South America.  The addition of the jaguars means the Alexandria Zoo can become a breeding facility for these animals.
