New MLK Jr. Library Branch Opens

A long-awaited, new branch of the Rapides Parish Library is open for business. The Martin Luther King Junior Branch comes a long way from the old one, years ago on Smash Avenue off Willow Glen.

This gleaming new facility on Broadway is open one day before students return to school. A formal dedication will be held at a later time, but the neighborhood residents, especially the students, were welcomed today.

Students are reminded about the dozens of services offered free with a library card. These include help with homework, databases, interactive books for children, magazines on-line, even music to download.
