New Legislative Session to Begin March 2nd
The Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce is hosting lawmakers as they prepare for the annual session in Baton Rouge. They will convene at noon on Monday March 2nd in Baton Rouge.
It is a non-fiscal session, which means their days will be mostly about non-tax and budget matters, including marijuana legalization, gay marriage and the limitation of abortion.
Many of the proposals are well known by these legislators, so we asked if there’s anything new under the Baton Rouge sun.
The legislators meet for 60 days over an 85-day period. New proposals are already being filed in the house and the senate, and there have even been committee hearings on some of the more contentious issues like marijuana legalization.
