New Law Would Make it Illegal to Give False Address

You better give law enforcement your correct address or you could be jailed up to two years under a bill by a Central Louisiana representative.

Yet, a local attorney who represents indigent clients says that can be a problem for the poor, mentally ill and those who move around a lot.

The bill by State Representative Chris Hazel made it out of committee somewhat along racial lines, and will be heard by the full house.

Alexandria lawyer Harold Murray says it would be a new law that is not needed.
