New ER at Rapides Regional to Open Tomorrow

After one year of hard work, the first phase of Rapides Regional Medical Center’s (RRMC) .5 million emergency department expansion is complete.

Tomorrow, the new emergency room will welcome its first patients.   The patients will be the first to see the new waiting area, reception desk, triage area, and covered entrance.

The previous emergency room will be closing soon to make way for the second phase.

RRMC treated more than 72,000 patients in 2014.

When fully operational in the third quarter of 2016, the expanded emergency room will have doubled, going from twenty-five beds to fifty-one and adding more than 16,000 square feet.
