Disgraced former Mayor Ray Nagin may be just down the road in September. The sentencing judge has recommended Nagin serve his 10 year sentence at the federal penitentiary. He has to report to the Bureau of Prisons on September 8th. But, it’s entirely up to the prison officials where Nagin will go.
Oakdale became famous as the temporary home for Former Governor Edwin Edwards, and a couple other high-profile prisoners are still there.
Nagin’s sentence makes him eligible to serve his time in the prison camp, which is less restrictive than the prison.
