NATCHITOCHES – The 11th Annual Meat Pie Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, September 29, 2013, in downtown Natchitoches. One of the state’s largest triathlons, over 250 competitors ages 14 to 84 are expected to compete in the Meat Pie Triathlon which will serve as this year’s Louisiana State Championship.
The Meat Pie Triathlon begins with a spectator-friendly half-mile swim in Cane River Lake, followed by a 20 mile bike ride over light rolling terrain. The race will conclude with a 5K run through the Natchitoches Historic District finishing under the beautiful canopy of oaks along Cane River Lake.
The downtown riverbank will close to through traffic on Saturday, September 28, 2013, in preparation for the Meat Pie Triathlon and remain closed until the conclusion of the event on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Lane closures will take effect Sunday morning at 4:30 a.m. on the following streets: Front Street from Church Street to Pavie Street; Texas Street from Washington Street to Hwy 3191 and Hwy 504 split; Hwy 504 to Hwy 3278; Hwy 3278 to Hwy 6; Church Street bridge from Front Street to Williams Avenue; Williams Avenue to East Lakeshore Drive.
