Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

There are plenty events happening on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday. The day opens at 6:30 a.m. with a breakfast and a message from the head pastor of Kingsville Baptist Church.

Line-up for the parade is at 8:30 a.m., and the march, in the custom of the historic Civil Rights Rallies will continue to the Riverfront Center.

A rally and service at noon will feature State Senator Rick Gallot of Ruston, who represents a portion of Rapides Parish.

Another tradition in Central Louisiana to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is held at LSUA. It’s a luncheon and fundraiser for scholarships, set for January 26th.

A reminder about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, school will be out, there will be no mail, and government offices and banks will be closed.

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Campus offices will reopen and classes will resume Tuesday, Jan. 20.
