Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

MLK2There are plenty events happening on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday. The day opens at 6:30 a.m. with a breakfast and a message from the head pastor of Kingsville Baptist Church.

Line-up for the parade is at 8:30 a.m., and the march, in the custom of the historic Civil Rights Rallies will continue to the Riverfront Center.

A rally and service at noon will feature State Senator Rick Gallot of Ruston, who represents a portion of Rapides Parish.

MLK1Another tradition in Central Louisiana to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is held at LSUA. It’s a luncheon and fundraiser for scholarships, set for January 26th.

MLK3A reminder about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, school will be out, there will be no mail, and government offices and banks will be closed.

NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Campus offices will reopen and classes will resume Tuesday, Jan. 20.
