The cold weather definitely didn’t keep people from celebrating a tradition yesterday morning for the Tee-Mamou Mardi Gras. Folks showed up yesterday for the “Courir de Mardi Gras”.
Revelers braved the frigid temps, dressing in costumes, chasing chicken, and collecting ingredients for the “gumbo” at the end of the route. For many, it’s a tradition they plan to keep going.
More than a dozen Cajun and creole communities celebrate Mardi Gras with festivities before lent.
