Man Shoots Himself After Fleeing Deputies
A man is dead after fleeing Rapides deputies.
Deputies say the suspect shot himself in the head yesterday afternoon off Highway 1 North in a subdivision.
Lieutenant Tommy Carnline says the man took off after deputies spotted him going door-to-door with cleaning supplies.
Updated information from Rapides deputies identifies the suspect as 30-year-old Frankie James Bobb Junior of Alexandria. Investigators are still trying to figure out why Bobb was going from house to house with cleaning supplies and why he ran.
The foot chase went from the vicinity of England Drive and Innis, across Highway 1 to Powell Lane. Deputies say Bobb ran with the gun to his head into the 1400 block of Maryland and killed himself.
Investigators were originally tipped by an off-duty deputy who saw Bobb going house-to-house.
