When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled passing several other vehicles on the shoulder of the road.
Officers pursued the vehicle into the Castle Village neighborhood where the driver exited the vehicle while it was still in motion. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and took the driver, now identified as Jethel Jones into custody following a short foot chase.
The investigation found that Jones had suspected narcotics in his possession to include Marijuana, Crystal Meth and prescription drugs. Officers also located a handgun that was discarded during the pursuit. A female passenger told Officers that she told Jones to stop and let her out, but Jones refused to while threatening her with the weapon.
Jethel Jones was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for injuries sustained when he exited the vehicle. Jones was then booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
Jethel Jones has 41 Bookings into the Rapides Parish System.
