LSU Of Alexandria To Host College Goal Sunday
ALEXANDRIA,
The program’s goal is to help parents and students complete the first step of the financial aid process by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA workshop will be held on Sunday, February 16 from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the Brumfield Caffey Ballroom at LSUA. The college-bound seniors and their families will receive free assistance from financial aid professionals and be able to get help with other financial aid related questions. LSUA will provide all the technical support in order for participants to complete the online FAFSA application.
The workshop is free and open to those who want to attend college.
“Although LSUA has the most affordable tuition among other four-year colleges in Louisiana, many families assume that college is not an option because of the cost,” says LSUA Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Enrollment Management Heather Poole. “A majority of students in central Louisiana do not complete the FAFSA and therefore funds go unclaimed – including grants. Every student graduating from high school should complete the FAFSA. It’s good economic sense.”
Participants should bring a social security number and driver’s license in addition to the student’s and parent’s W-2 forms for 2013 and a 2013 signed Federal Income Tax Return along with current bank statements and any other investment records.
Filling out a FAFSA is the first step in finding the financial aid options available to make college more affordable and LSUA wants to help those who are looking to continue their education.
“Our goal at LSUA is to assist all students and their families in navigating this process regardless of where they plan to attend college,” says Poole.
Doors for the event will open at 1:30pm and the workshop will begin promptly at 2:00. Those who arrive before 2:15 and complete a FAFSA at College Goal Sunday can enter to receive a 0 scholarship.
Space is limited. Please email admissions@lsua.edu call 318-473-6417 to RSVP.
