Local Policeman Honored with Saved By the Belt Award
Seatbelts
Louisiana State Police presented Captain Brian Walker of the Natchitoches Police Department with the Saved by the Belt Award. The award is given to law enforcement officers who exemplify what they are enforcing.
Captain Walker was involved in a head on collision while on duty and officials say if he hadn’t been buckled up, he’d be severely injured or dead.
Last year in Louisiana, 72 thousand were injured in motor vehicle crashes. Here in Louisiana, the law requires all occupants be properly restrained regardless of position in the vehicle.
This is the first award of its kind handed out in the Troop E area.
