Alexandria State Representative Lance Harris and Natchitoches Senator Gerald Long say they both have contacted the governor asking him to veto house bill 1140.
Alexandria Representative Herbert Dixon has named the bridge for former Pineville City Councilman Lemon Coleman and for the late Bo Curtis, a state representative.
Both Harris and Long expressed anger about the process, saying nobody was consulted and this is not the proper way to go about naming the new bridge. Harris says the governor must veto the entire bill to nix the names. And, Long says if the bill slips by, he’ll ask the governor to delay the naming of the bridge and deal with the matter at the next legislative session, to undo what Dixon did.
