LEESVILLE, LA – Our goal is to provide the citizens of Leesville with complete and reliable information about the presence of contaminants in their drinking water and to determine whether further actions are warranted to protect public health.
We are required to monitor your drinking water for chlorine residual at our point of collection taps at the same time bacteriological samples are collected. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. During the monitoring period of January 01, 2015 to January 31, 2015, the City of Leesville Water System did not monitor for chlorine residual at the same time bacteriological samples were collected, and therefore we cannot be sure of the quality of your drinking water during that time.
This violation occurred because of the failure to collect the required samples for chlorine residual from the water system’s distribution system.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
Necessary action has been taken to prevent this violation from reoccurring; Martin Mayo, designated operator, did collect and test for chlorine residual at the Arkansas Street Monitoring Site as required, however, failed to include the test results in his report to the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals-Office of Public Health. He will continue to comply with the regulations set forth by the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals-Office of Public Health by collecting, sampling water from all required monitoring sites, and accurately reporting these results to the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals-Office of Public Health.
For more information, please contact Martin Mayo, designated operator, at (337) 239-2995 or mail to 101 West Lee Street Leesville, LA 71446.
