LC To Seek New President After Trustee Meeting

class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-35776″ alt=”LC_AlexHall” src=”http://klax-tv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/LC_AlexHall.jpg” width=”500″ height=”333″ />Besieged Louisiana College President Joe Aguillard is out as of August 1st.  The board of trustees chairman issued a statement saying Aguillard will be named president emeritus but an interim head will take over the Southern Baptist 4-year school in Pineville.

Doctor Argile Smith will serve until the board hires a new president.

Aguillard has been under fire for months–accused of running the school with an iron hand, firing popular teachers and improperly spending funds on projects that never panned out.  However, the statement issued by the school’s chairman praises him for his service and indicates he’ll remain as a tenured professor.

Smith is associate dean of the school’s theology department.
