LAGOP, Governor Call for McAllister Resignation

The Chairman of the State Republican Party and the Governor call for the resignation of 5th District Congressman Vance McAllister.

The Monroe-area Republican has come under fire recently due to the release of a video showing McAllister in a romantic embrace with another married member of his staff.

He has issued statements saying he will not resign, while apologizing to his family and constituents.  McAllister was elected last fall on a platform of faith and family values.

But, the statement from the party chairman claims McAllister is an embarrassment.

“The Republican Party of Louisiana calls on Vance McAllister to resign his seat in Congress.  Mr. McAllister’s extreme hypocrisy is an example of why ordinary people are fed up with politics.”

Governor Bobby Jindal also today said McAllister should leave, saying it would be the best way for him to have the privacy he wants to repair relations with his family.

Congressional House Speaker John Boehner today addresses the case of what some are calling the kissing congressman.  He stops short of calling on Congressman Vance McAllister to resign.

There’s been no response from the congressman’s staff.
