If you’ve ever wanted to drive some type of heavy machinery, it’s possible with a simulator.
Louisiana Caterpillar is taking its simulator to four campuses to let area high school students see what it’s like to be a heavy equipment operator. The simulator trains people on how to operate excavators and motor grinders.
Teachers say these are opportunities to learn what’s available in the construction industry.
The simulator was at Alexandria Senior High today, and it will be at Grant High and Oak Hill High this week.
The Orchard Foundation is spearheading this career opportunity with help from Gilchrist Construction and Diamond B Construction. They’re also providing money for a construction technology course at five area schools for the 6th year.
