Krewe of Kolbi Bow Wow Walking the Dog in Mardi Gras 2014

KolbiBowWowlogoThe Krewe of Kolbi Bow Wow, co-founded in 2000 by the late Zoo Director, Leslie Whitt, is celebrating its 15th Anniversary.  Bow Wow Krewe members are excited once again to march in this year’s Alexandria Children’s Parade on Mardi Gras Saturday, March 1, 2014.   It’s a wonderful opportunity for pampered pets to “strut their stuff”, and for some of Alexandria’s homeless dogs to find good homes.  Alexandria Animal Shelter volunteers will walk several of its canines in the parade.  These dogs will then be available for adoption at the Friends of the Alexandria Zoo’s King Cake Cookie Party at the Zoo.  Adoption fees (, males and , females) include neuter/spay procedures, a vet exam, the first set of shots, and rabies vaccination.

The deadline for registering is Wednesday, February 26th!

Central Louisiana is emphasizing Healthy life styles. Come out for Walking the Dog and get some exercise. Bring your child, grandchild or other relatives and walk in our Family Friendly Children’s Parade with Kolbi Bow Wow and help promote adoptions by the Alexandria Animal shelter.

Dog owners who would like to participate in the Krewe are invited to attend the Kolbi Bow Wow Ball on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:00pm at the Alexandria Zoo Education Pavilion.  The early registration fee to participate in the Mardi Gras Saturday Children’s Parade is $25.00 for the first dog and $20 for additional dogs.  Certain breed restrictions apply to ensure the safety of children.  For more information or an application form, contact Greg Gormanous at 318.487.4805, Greg.Psy1@gmail.com.
